Disaster Recovery Architect

Recovery project for Home and Small Business (HSB) Online.
Responsibilities included development of architecture, implementation of
redundant hardware for web site in multiple data centers, and working with
developers to improve application fail over with new architecture.

Successfully designed, sized, and deployed Disaster Recovery
architecture in two new Tier I Data Centers including migration of existing
servers with ZERO customer downtime and implementation of new network load
balancing architecture.

Managed Availability, Performance, Extensibility, and Scalability
for all HSB Online projects. Reviewed and validated all project technical
specifications.

Received Disaster Recovery Champion Award in November 2002 from
Global DR Program Management Office and CIO.
Online Database Manager/Database Architect
-
Created, recruited, staffed, and managed database group for Online
division overseeing multiple production database servers (generating $60 million
in revenue per day) including QA and development groups. Built team from
one person to eighteen in one year and held attrition to zero during that time.

Architect and Database Developer for HSB 2.0 - implementation of
Commerce Server 2000 and SQL Server 2000 for dell.com

Prior Experience
Prior experience includes
working for BSG Alliance/IT, Catapult Systems, Context Integration, and Sybase
in a multitude of consulting positions for clients such as GE, Deutsche
Financial Services (DFS), Phoenix Newspapers, Inc., Princeton Medical Management
Resources (PMMR), Texas Department of Human Services (TDHS), JP Morgan, and MCI
WorldCom.
Database Management
-
Provided production support including on-call responsibilities of
multiple 24x7 database servers including Replication Servers and Omni Connect
servers for MCI WorldCom.

Assisted in data modeling for data warehouse based upon TDHS CARES
OLTP system and mainframe data.
-
Responsible for performance and tuning data mart based upon
PeopleSoft application. Included reviewing outside party’s design of data
mart based on AS400 proprietary financial system for JP Morgan.

Designed data models for multiple projects including data
warehouse database based on external data sources and HP3000 database and data
model for laptop-based hospital claim management system and designed custom
replication system between MS SQL Server and Sybase SQL Anywhere.

Responsible for database development, data model, and stress
testing 30GB test database for OLTP system for Phoenix Newspapers.

First implementation and upgrade of Sybase SQL Server 11 at BSG.
-
Implemented OmniSQL Server using Net-Gateway to share data between
Sybase and DB2 on a mainframe. Assisted with proof-of-concept of
replication between Sybase and DB2 and Sybase to Sybase replication between 40
sites.

Developed database maintenance procedures including DBCCs,
threshold management and backup and recovery.
Development
-
Developed korn script program that automated DBCCs, update
statistics, backups using BMC SQL-Backtrack and Sybase dump commands, sp_sysmon,
error log checking, and server status.

Designed and developed java application to map physical disk
drives to database devices using PowerJ and stored procedures.

Developed and managed client department web site using CGI scripts
and HTML

Assisted in the design, development, and testing of the TDHS IEVS
project using Sybase SQL Server 11 and SilverStream 1.5.

Designed and implemented rules-based risk engine based on
documented business rules utilizing Sybase SQL Server.

Assisted in the requirements, design and development of the TDHS
LTCR CARES OLTP project based on Sybase SQL Server 11.

Wrote utilities to load data into Sybase using Visual Basic, Perl
5, Sybperl 2 and Korn shell for multiple clients

environments for multiple clients

Responsible for all code reviews of C, C++, SQR and PowerBuilder
code for SQL efficiency and correctness for newspaper publisher.
